Homecoming

In the flurry of emotions that inevitably comes with the homecoming of a military servicemember, I tried hard to savor and remember every moment. But as I sit here now with my family eating a quiet lunch at home, it feels – somehow – like he never left.

And the duffel bag that once brought me great dread,

the one sitting innocently at my door today,

 means something completely different now.

He’s home.

Hey. Mrs Dehoff sent me your blog link:). How are you? I have often thought about you over the years. Where are you guys living? We are currently in VA about 20 minutes outside DC. My husband is also military and I can completely relate. He was a helicopter pilot for many years and several deployments later he switched his MOS to a Foreign Area Officer for China. We just got back from China in August and should be here about 6years before we go again. I am a nurse practitioner with a surgical team and seem to never have enough time. I have Greta (10) and Vince (3 almost 4). Write me back on email or fb friend me would love to hear from you. I laugh bc Greta goes and spends about 4 weeks in Ks every summer and hops between my mom dad and Jenny. I told her not too long ago that you use to visit every summer. Ironic that mrs Dehoff when then send the note. Ok take care

Woo hoo! It is a very strange time warp, isn’t it? So glad he is home. On to “reintegration”. 🙂
